This family of curtains was produced at an embroidery workshop held during 2 weeks between late April and early May 2026 at the workshop room on the ground floor of Kunsinstituut Melly, in the context of the group exhibition Draw Withdraw Redraw. A few curtains were produced at Greylight Projects, Heerlen, in the context of the group exhibition Supporting Acts.

Draw Withdraw Redraw, is a group exhibition with work by AYO , Bani Abidi , Cinthia Marcelle , Felipe Mujica , Misheck Masamvu , Nohemi Perez and Thierry Oussou.

Drawing, drawing from, drawing with, being drawn to something, becoming involved in, a standstill—returning to the drawing board as a space for reconsideration and making new plans for a desired form of individuality.

Drawing to leave a trace on paper, on fabric, on the ground […] drawing to create movement […] drawing to extract something […] drawing within the game of chance […] drawing to neither lose nor win […] Starting from the broad meaning of drawing, Draw Withdraw Redraw brings recognition, resistance, and reinvention to the forefront.

Drawing, withdrawing, redrawing places us in a state of constant motion, a return to the same that is never the same. Movement seeks flight without desiring a landing. There is a continuous negotiation, a risk-taking and self-preservation, because we have never let go of drawing… because drawing is always something from which we can draw… Drawing, drawing from, drawing with, being drawn to something, becoming involved in, a draw.
